standard was changed into Appendix C of GB 567.2;
— Appendix C "Allowable Maximum Service Temperature of Bursting Disc
Materials" of the original standard was changed into Appendix A "Allowable
Maximum Service Temperature of Common Materials Used for Bursting Disc and
Sealing Lining", and the contents of "Allowable Maximum Service Temperature
of Common Materials Used for Sealing Lining" were added;
— Appendix D "Manufacture Range of Bursting Disc" of the original standard was
Bursting Disc Safety Devices -
Part 1. Basic Requirement
1 Scope
1.1 This Part specifies the technical requirements for design, manufacture,
inspection, test, marking sign, packing and exit-factory documents of bursting disc
safety devices.
1.2 This Part is applicable to the following bursting disc safety devices.
— The bursting disc safety devices used for pressure vessels, pressure pipes or
other sealing pressure equipment (hereafter referred to as “pressure equipment”)
to prevent the overpressure or excess vacuum;
— The bursting pressure of bursting discs is not greater than 500MPa and not less
than 0.001MPa.
1.3 This Part is not applicable to the following bursting disc safety devices.
— Pressure equipment, possible to increase pressure abruptly in the operation,
reaching reaction rate at detonation degree.
— Bursting disc safety devices under the special requirements in the defence
military equipment.
Note. Phenomenon that is generated very differently from the common burning and explosion
when the burning rate of the material is quickly, above 1 000m/s, is known as detonation.
2 Normative References
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this
document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references,
the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB 567.2 Bursting disc safety devices — Part 2. Application, selection and
installation
GB 567.3 Bursting disc safety devices — Part 3. Classification and mounting
dimensions
GB 567.4 Bursting disc safety device — Part 4. type test
3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Pressure
Unless otherwise stated, pressure all refers to the gauge pressure.
3.2
Bursting disc safety device
It refers to the pressure relief safety device that is composed of such assemblies as
bursting disc (or bursting disc assembly) and bursting disc holder (or supporting ring).
The bursting disc will act (crack or fall off) and discharge the pressure medium
immediately when the pressure difference between both sides of the bursting disc
reaches the pre-set value at the pre-set temperature.
3.3
Bursting disc
It refers to the pressure sensitive device that is in the bursting disc device and is able
to act rapidly due to overpressure.
3.4
Bursting disc assembly
It refers to the assembly combined by two or more such parts as bursting disc, back
pressure support, stiffening ring and anticorrosion lining, which is also called
assemble-type bursting disc.
3.5
Conventional domed bursting disc (also referred to as. forward-acting)
The pressure sensitive device acts like a conventional domed shape. The concave
surface of the dome is located at the high pressure side of the pressure system after
installation. The tensile failure will occur on this device when it actuates.
3.6
Reverse domed bursting disc (also referred to as. reverse-acting)
It refers to the pressure sensitive device that is in reverse domed shape. The convex
pressure sensitive device-bursting disc against emergency destruction due to the
differential back pressure.
The back pressure support placed at the concave side of the conventional domed
bursting disc is used to prevent the bursting disc against instability of the convex side
under pressure when differential back pressure appears. This back pressure support
may be referred to as vacuum support where the system pressure is likely vacuum.
The back pressure support placed at the convex surface of the reverse domed bursting
disc is used to prevent the bursting disc from accidental tensile failure due to the
concave surface under pressure when differential back pressure appears.
3.13
Opening back pressure supports
The back pressure support that will crack with the explosion of the bursting disc.
3.14
Non-opening back pressure supports
The back pressure support that will not crack with the explosion of the bursting disc.
3.15
Stiffening ring
It refers to the annular ring in the assemble-type bursting disc, jointed (bonded) tightly
with the edge of pressure sensitive device-bursting disc in order to reinforce the edge
stiffness.
3.16
Sealing lining
It refers to the film, in the assemble-type bursting disc, that has a sealing role for the
slotted lined pressure sensitive device.
3.17
Coating
It refers to (a layer of) metallic or non-metallic lining of certain thickness covered on
the surface of bursting disc safety device by the spray coating method.
3.18
Anticorrosion lining
It refers to the additional metallic or non-metallic coating that is used to prevent the
bursting disc safety device from the corrosion failure where the bursting disc
components are subject to the corrosion effect of medium.
3.19
Plating
(A layer of) metal plating of certain thickness added on the surface of bursting disc or
bursting disc holder by the plating method.
3.20
Temperature shield
It refers to the protective device that is used to avoid the bursting disc safety device
from directly bearing the too high or too low temperature.
3.21
Raw disc
It refers to the blank piece cut from the metallic or non-metallic strips or sheets or from
their bars or lumps according to the design dimension for manufacturing the bursting
discs.
3.22
Bursting pressure
It refers to the pressure difference between both sides of the bursting disc when the
bursting disc safety device is actuating at the specified coincident temperature.
3.23
Specified bursting pressure
It refers to the bursting (actuating) pressure value of the bursting disc corresponding
to the specified coincident temperature proposed by the purc...
